Tree Boss — demo finale

The last obstacle in the public demo. This page contains pattern spoilers. Expand each phase when you are stuck — not before your first attempt.

Think Sekiro rhythm: identify slow heavies for parries, hold guard on everything else that is not purple, and treat the fight as a defense exam rather than a DPS race.

v0.1.10 made learning easier

  • Tree Boss damage reduced for longer learning windows
  • Purple projectile speed lowered
  • Defending against purple attacks now triggers an in-game tutorial after you get hit once

Prep checklist

  • Clear route enemies cleanly so you enter with consumables.
  • Watch one full attack loop before committing to parries.
  • Remember: most non-purple swings can be blocked — rolling everything leaves you exposed.

Phase breakdown

Opening patterns
  • Hang at mid range and watch one full combo before committing.
  • Most basic swings are block-safe; save parries for slow, glowing heavies.
  • Do not heal mid-string — potion startup is punishable unless the boss resets.
Purple pressure
  • When the purple cue appears, dodge perpendicular to the beam — corners kill you faster than the hit itself.
  • After v0.1.10 the projectile travels slower; use the extra frames to identify the tell.
  • If you get tagged, the game now surfaces a defense reminder — read it once, then drill the dodge timing.
Closing the fight
  • Nearly every non-purple swing can be blocked according to player reports — spamming dodge wastes your defensive options.
  • Extend combos only after a confirmed parry stagger, not on hope.
  • Three clean punish windows beat ten sloppy ones.

  • You can name one parry window per boss cycle without guessing.
  • Purple tells trigger a dodge reflex, not a block attempt.
  • You heal only after creating space, never mid-combo.
  • Repeated deaths to the same move → isolate and drill that animation.
